Gettin' rid of the nasty buggers...

... And I don't mean the kids - ha ha! Ever since we moved into our house last year I have been wanting to get rid of these stupid, nasty, thorny shrubs. I don't know what their "official" name is, but Nasty Buggers works for me! So anyway today was probably the first real spring like day we have had yet. Beautiful blue skies, no wind, and warm enough to be out without a coat (that's my way of saying I have no idea what the temp was, but you get the idea : ) The kids were anxious to get out and I was ready to pull these things before their roots could delve any deeper into my ground. The picture doesn't do much justice to how many thorns are on each branch... but believe me (and the owee on my finger) that there are PLENTY!Happy to have them all gone! They even look evil, don't they?
I have to say, it will be sad when someone finally moves into the house across the street because we have made good use of the sloped driveway!
The kids decided to race each other.
Kia took pride in getting first place.
But all good things must come to an end... and for Brad it was when he took a spill off the tractor he was riding and slid a little ways on his elbow. I'm sure this won't be the first case of road rash we'll see this season.

I'll try to not slack so much on my blogging. We've been busy trying to balance work, school, and family life. Come July things will be much more normal... but I can say that we are doing really well. Thanks for being patient with us!
